Jon Eggert Elected APS Fellow

Jon Eggert, a Research Physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and a former Carnegie Fellow at the Geophysical Laboratory, has been elected Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS).

Jon was a Carnegie Fellow from 1992 to 1994 where he did a variety of pioneering studies on hydrogen under pressure. His results on the bound-unbound transition, two-vibron states, ortho-para conversion, and orientational-ordering transitions opened new areas for study of dense hydrogen.

Jon now works at the exciting intersection of high energy density physics and condensed matter physics.  He is a key contact for Carnegie and CDAC at LLNL's National Ignition Facility for the first science experiments to be performed there in the coming year. Jon is also a member of the CDAC Steering Committee.
