Udachnaya Xenoliths

These Web pages contain additional material describing the peridotite xenoliths from the Udachnaya kimberlite, which is located in the central Siberian platform, Russia. These samples are described by F.R. Boyd (shown on the right), N.P. Pokhilenko, D.G. Pearson, S.A. Mertzman, N.V. Sobolev, and L.W. Finger in "Composition of the Siberian Cratonic Mantle: Evidence from Udachnaya Peridotite Xenoliths", Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology,  128, 228-246 (1997).

For each sample contained in this collection, a petrographic description is available here. In addition, complete whole rock analyses, and mineral analyses are available both as Web tables and as downloadable files. As in the manuscript, the tables are separated into groups belonging to the spinel, low- and high-temperature garnet facies. Except for FRB 813 ( a high-temperature, garnet peridotite), samples are labeled by the sequence number and the year as in 111/91, which is the 111th specimen for 1991. For a few samples, Re-Os, Rb/Sr and Sm/Nd data are presented here.
